The Gracia neighbourhood

Gracia has been an independent village since 1897. Today it is one of the most important neighbourhoods in the city of Barcelona due to its special atmosphere and for having retained its own identity.

 

The district stretches north to south from Plaza Joanic to Princep d’Astúries street, and west to east from Travessera de Dalt to Córcega Street.

 

The best thing for visitors to do in Gracia is to take a stroll along its narrow streets and enjoy the great atmosphere, not forgetting to take a look at Plaza Rius i Taulet, with its large central bell tower, and Plaza de la Virreina, where the parish church of Sant Joan is located.

 

In late August, the neighbourhood celebrates its annual festival; the streets are decorated and multitude of outdoor activities and concerts are organised. A must at this time of year is to walk through the streets and soak up the festive atmosphere.



Address: To enter the Gracia neighbourhood, we suggest you take the metro and get off at Fontana (L3), which leaves you at the intersection of Gran de Gràcia street with Astúries; at Joanic (L4); or take an FCG train (any of the ones from Plaza Catalunya) and get off at the Gracia stop, which leaves you at the intersection of Via Augusta with Marià Cubí.
