The building occupied by the Palau Robert is a small neo-classical mansion, similar in style to the houses of the wealthy in the late 19th century which were built on the Paseo de Gracia.
In 1981, the Catalan Government purchased the building, garden and attached buildings. It opened in 1997, under the name of Palau Robert and soon became a city landmark.
It currently houses the Tourist Information Centre of Catalonia and promotes the region through exhibitions, publications, events and activities.
