Joan Antoni Samaranch Olympic and Sports Museum

The Olympic and Sports Museum opened in 2007 at the Olympic ring. In June 2010, the name of Joan Antoni Samaranch, the International Olympic Committee president from 1980 to 2001, was added to the museum.

The museum contains elements related to high-performance sport, competitive sport, and leisure sport. It shows how sport has the capacity to promote values, educate, innovate, and renew. It also includes interactive spaces with advanced technology and multimedia installations. One of the most emblematic spaces in the museum houses the Joan Antoni Samaranch collection, which aims to reflect Olympic sporting spirit through pieces related to sport, art, and culture that belonged to the former president of the IOC. The museum also has a space for temporary exhibitions and an exhibition on sport in different civilizations. The Barcelona Olympic Foundation has its headquarters here.
